On July 3, at the Phase I construction site of the core zone of Zhejiang (East China) Offshore Wind Power Mother Port, the 3,800-ton 107m double-girder gantry crane — boasting the world’s maximum lifting capacity, tallest overall height and maximum lifting height — completed its integral lifting smoothly. The construction of Phase I officially transitioned from main structural works to equipment installation and commissioning.
The gantry crane stands 166.5 meters tall overall with a maximum lifting height of 130 meters and a rated lifting capacity of 3,800 tons, equivalent to the weight of approximately 760 adult African elephants. Equipped with an upper-and-lower double trolley system, each single trolley delivers a lifting capacity of 1,900 tons. It supports diverse lifting operations including independent single-hook hoisting, as well as combined tandem lifting with two or three hooks. The equipment can precisely accommodate complex construction scenarios such as hoisting and docking of extra-large steel structures, effectively resolving common industrial bottlenecks of low hoisting efficiency and stringent precision requirements for oversized marine engineering components.
“This gantry crane is a core heavy-duty equipment for Zhejiang to develop its deep-offshore wind power industrial chain. Once put into service, it will cover hoisting operations for heavy components including offshore wind turbines, marine engineering platforms and large modules, laying a solid hardware foundation for Zhejiang to foster world-leading integrated manufacturing capacity for super-large marine engineering components,” a principal person in charge of Wenzhou Mother Port Corporation said in an on-site interview.
The gantry crane is scheduled to finish alignment welding in July, followed by electrical connection, system commissioning and load testing in August to prepare for trial production of jacket foundations in the third quarter of this year. Supported by this world-top-tier gantry crane, Zhejiang (East China) Offshore Wind Power Mother Port will further amplify Zhejiang’s advantages in marine industries and provide robust support for large-scale and high-end manufacturing of deep-offshore wind power equipment.
It is reported that Phase I of the core zone of Zhejiang (East China) Offshore Wind Power Mother Port consists of land works and wharf works. The land area covers around 650 mu, divided into production zones and auxiliary production zones by functional layout. The project will achieve an annual output of 80 sets of jacket foundations, meeting the demand for deep-water jacket foundation structures of large-megawatt offshore wind turbines in deep-offshore wind power projects.
