Engineered for Conventional I-Beam Crane Systems

Integrated Planetary Drive · I-Beam Compatible · Centered Hook Travel · Smooth & Reliable Lifting

The ASX Planetary Electric Wire Rope Hoist is designed for conventional single-girder cranes and I-beam crane systems, combining proven crane compatibility with a compact, high-performance planetary transmission.

At the heart of the ASX is a hardened-gear planetary reducer integrated inside the rope drum. Power from the hoisting motor is transmitted to the planetary gearbox through a flexible coupling, creating a compact and efficient drivetrain with high torque capacity and smooth power transmission.

The modular hoist construction, I-beam travelling trolley and centered hook arrangement make the ASX an ideal solution for new conventional crane installations as well as modernization and replacement projects.

Lifting Capacity: 3.2–20 t · Working Class: M4 · Lifting Height: up to 18 m

Key Features

01. Modular Construction

The ASX hoist consists of independent functional modules, including the hoisting motor, planetary gearbox, rope drum assembly, flexible coupling, rope guide, hook block, electric travelling trolley, travel drive and electrical control system.

The modular arrangement provides convenient access to individual components, simplifying inspection, adjustment, maintenance and replacement while helping reduce service downtime.

02. Integrated Planetary Gear Drive

A hardened-gear planetary reducer is integrated directly inside the rope drum, utilizing the internal drum space to create a highly compact hoisting drivetrain.

Multiple planet gears share the transmitted load, providing high torque capacity, accurate transmission and reliable performance within a compact structure. Hardened gear surfaces provide excellent wear resistance and contribute to extended service life.

03. Flexible Coupling Transmission

The output torque of the hoisting motor is transmitted to the planetary reducer through a flexible coupling.

The coupling helps absorb shock and compensate for minor alignment deviations, reducing impact on the transmission system and contributing to smoother starting and reliable torque transfer.

04. Dual-Speed or VFD Control

Dual-speed motors and variable-frequency brake motors are available to suit different operating requirements.

VFD configurations provide smooth acceleration and deceleration, improved low-speed control and accurate load positioning while reducing mechanical shock during frequent lifting operations.

05. Centered Hook Travel

The ASX hoisting mechanism is designed to maintain the hook centerline in a consistent position during lifting and lowering.

This centered lifting arrangement minimizes lateral hook displacement and provides more predictable vertical load movement, which is particularly beneficial for accurate load handling and positioning.

06. I-Beam Crane Compatibility

The travelling trolley is specifically designed for conventional I-beam crane girders, making the ASX suitable for traditional single-girder overhead cranes.

The configuration is also well suited to modernization projects where the existing crane girder structure is retained while the hoisting equipment is upgraded.

How the Planetary Drive Works

Compact Power Transmission from Motor to Drum

The ASX uses a highly integrated power transmission arrangement:

Hoisting Motor → Flexible Coupling → Planetary Gear Reducer → Rope Drum → Wire Rope → Hook Block

Unlike conventional configurations that require a separate external reduction gearbox, the ASX planetary reducer is positioned inside the rope drum.

This arrangement makes effective use of the available internal space and reduces the external footprint of the transmission system, while the planetary gear architecture provides high torque density through multiple-gear load sharing.

Product Applications

Conventional Single-Girder Overhead Cranes

Designed specifically for conventional single-girder cranes using I-beam structures, providing reliable lifting and cross-travel performance for everyday industrial material handling.

Crane Modernization & Replacement

An effective solution for upgrading existing conventional crane systems. Where the existing crane structure remains suitable for service, the ASX can provide a modern planetary hoisting solution without changing the fundamental crane configuration.

Manufacturing & Machinery

Suitable for machinery manufacturing, equipment assembly, component handling, fabrication workshops and production facilities requiring frequent lifting operations.

Warehousing & Material Handling

Ideal for warehouses, maintenance facilities, industrial storage areas and general material-handling applications requiring reliable overhead lifting.

Typical Applications

Machinery Manufacturing · Equipment Assembly · Metal Fabrication · Maintenance Workshops · Warehousing · Production Facilities · Conventional Overhead Cranes · Crane Modernization

Operation & Maintenance

1. Safe Operation

Never exceed the rated lifting capacity. The hoist should be positioned vertically above the load before lifting. Side pulling and diagonal lifting must be avoided. Personnel must never stand or work beneath a suspended load.

2. Pre-Operation Inspection

Before operation, inspect the braking system, wire rope, hook, rope guide and limit devices. Confirm that all safety devices operate correctly. Limit switches are safety devices and should not be routinely used as normal operating stops.

3. Routine Maintenance

Maintain appropriate lubrication of the gearbox, bearings and wire rope in accordance with the maintenance schedule. Never manually lubricate moving wire rope. Disconnect the main power supply before maintenance and do not leave loads suspended for extended periods.

4. Fault Handling

If abnormal noise, vibration, braking performance or other irregular operation occurs, stop the equipment and isolate the power supply. Inspection and maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel with the hoist unloaded and safely secured.

FAQ

Why does the hoist stop during lifting or fail to restart?

Possible causes include activation of the lifting limit switch, motor thermal protection, electrical protection or other control-system conditions. Stop operation and identify the cause before restarting. If thermal protection has activated after extended operation, allow the motor to cool and inspect the operating conditions before returning the hoist to service.

What should I do if abnormal vibration or noise occurs?

Stop the hoist and isolate the power supply. Abnormal vibration or noise may be associated with lubrication, bearings, gears, coupling alignment or other mechanical components. The equipment should be inspected by qualified service personnel before further operation.

What should I do if the load slips during lifting?

Stop operation immediately and safely lower or secure the load where possible. Load slipping can indicate a problem with the braking system or other hoisting components. The brake and transmission system must be inspected and corrected by qualified personnel before the hoist is returned to service.

When should the wire rope be replaced?

Wire rope should be inspected regularly for broken wires, excessive wear, corrosion, kinking, deformation and other damage. Replacement criteria should follow the applicable crane wire-rope inspection standard and the manufacturer's maintenance requirements.

What electrical checks are required before commissioning?

Before commissioning, verify that the incoming power supply matches the equipment nameplate and project electrical specifications. Insulation, grounding, phase sequence, control circuits and protective devices should be inspected and tested by qualified electrical personnel in accordance with applicable standards and commissioning procedures.
